Hilal was sighted on the 29th of Rajab – Thursday, 23 July, 2009 at Newcastle, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. Hilal committees in Australia as well as members of Mahdavia community have confirmed the sighting. Hence, the 1st of Sha’ban will be on Friday, 24 July, 2009.
India:
On the 29th of Rajab- Thursday, 23rd July, 2009, Hilal of Sha’ban was sighted at several places across India, including Hyderabad, Medak, Mahboobnagar, Kadapa and Warangal in Andhra Pradesh, Baswakalyan and Raichur in Karnataka, Patna in Bihar, Lucknow, in Utter Pradesh. Ruiyat Hilal Committees and also the Shahi Imam of Delhi have declared 1st of Shaban on Friday, 24 July 2009 in India.
Pakistan:
Hilal of Sha’ban was sighted at a number of places in Pakistan on the 29th of Rajab- Thursday, 23 July 2009. Markazi Ruiyat-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has declared Friday, 24 July 2009 as 1st of Shaban 1430H.
United Kingdom:
New Moon was Not sighted at any place in UK on the 29th of Rajab- Wednesday, 22 July, 2009. First of Shaban will be on Friday, 24 July, 2009.
USA and Canada
As per the declaration by Hazrat Maulana Abulfatah Syed Nusrat Sahab Qibla Tashreefullahi, Hilal was NOT sighted anywhere in North America on the 29th of Rajab 1430H- i.e. Wednesday, 22 July, 2009. The 1st of Sha’ban will be on Friday, 24 July, 2009. A number of Islamic Organizations including Hilal Committees of North America have made similar announcements.
